Re: If you moved form Sydenham, where would you go?
Just found this - I have moved, but I lurk from time to time to see what's happening with the Greyhound  (was sad not to see it rebuilt before we went) Why would you move? I wanted to buy a family-sized house with a big garden and have a choice of excellent non-faith state schools for my ...

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?
Sadly, having had personal dealings with Lewisham planning enforcement, this doesn't surprise me at all . They are loathe to enforce anything, and will constantly change the timelines for enforcement or just sit around not acting at all. In my case, the problem only got resolved because the wrong ...

Re: Packing and removals service
Thanks everyone for all these recommendations; I will get busy ringing round. We can't afford anyone super-expensive as we have to move twice... We're moving into a rental until we find somewhere to buy as our purchase fell apart and I couldn't face going back to the beginning and not moving. Not ...

Packing and removals service
Please can anyone recommend a local packing and removal service who will do a move to Hertfordshire for a reasonable price? I need a full packing service, enough to worry about with getting toddler, bump, husband and a tank of tropical fish to the new place in one piece!

Re: Cameron's Property Policy is Theft
I am in no way tribally anti-Conservative either, but this policy is absolute madness, we are still suffering the legacy of the first wave of RTB! Between this and their genius idea to inflate house prices at the taxpayers' expense by offering to top up ISAs for first-time buyers, anyone would think ...

They are kind of cute. Hope for your sake they move on before they start mating and fighting over territory though!

Re: Moving and registering to vote
Ah, thanks for that link Rachael. I had it in my head that you need some actual proof of address like a a tenancy agreement to register to vote (we're moving into a rental and can't see that starting before 30th April) but now I'm thinking you don't. Tim, I know :( We love Sydenham, but we need more ...

Moving and registering to vote
I'm registered to vote at my address in Sydenham, but it looks like we're going to be moving around the end of April to a new constituency. Is that leaving it too late to register to vote at my new address or should I stay registered in Sydenham and apply for a postal vote? Does anyone know? Thanks.

I'm sure I heard somewhere that they were planning to revamp the cafe. Did I make this up? It's no Green and Browns is it?

No experience of them, but can you take them to small claims court? Most companies pay up pretty quick once they get a summons - the price of a fence won't be worth the hassle.

Re: Cherish Day Nursery - Sydenham
Hi there. Your website looks great. Suggest you post links on these local facebook pages (if advertising is allowed) as I see a lot of discussion relating to nurseries on there. It's great to see that you have a proper garden as the lack of outdoor space was one of the things that put me off ...

Re: Kirkdale High Street Update!
Great news - I noticed Emmanuelle Marshall shop open the other day, happy that I won't have to schlep to East Dulwich to buy children's shoes any more! Does anyone know what is actually proposed for the big white building where the scaffolding has gone up? I know they have had a long history of ...

Re: With regard to The Windmill Pub ...
Tim, you're right, that makes no sense at all, or at least seems to defy the conventions of linear time. My understanding, after talking to a family member who works in planning for a large national company, is that when a pub is listed as a community asset, there is a moratorium on anyone buying ...

I would too - especially something specialist like chocolate/sweet making or vienoisserie. A friend of mine went on a specialist course to learn how to prepare fish and seafood which looked great. Could be lots of opportunities to connect with other local businesses/suppliers and boost our local ...

Re: The Imitation Game
Finally managed to see this film this afternoon. I thought it was excellent, brilliant acting (even by Knightley, whom I normally find a bit of a distraction) and really quite moving. I thought they struck a good balance of showing Turing's personal story and also his achievements and contribution ...
