Crime Prevention services

I've started a new thread on this, so that another can stay on topic.

When the flat below ours recently got burgled, we set about finding out some advice on suitable locks and security measures. We contacted the Safer Neighbourhood Team, who put us in touch with the local Crime Prevention Officer, who took two weeks to visit us, and when he did, wasn't able to provide much assistance at all.

Has anyone else had similar experience? Shouldn't there be more resources available to people who want to help themselves avoid becoming a victim of crime? Surely by investing a little more in this, the police would cut their own workload?

I am not sure it the fault of the Police. They are tied down filling in paperwork each time they talk to a member of the public , even about the weather.
If we freed officers from this ( they can stop and search anyone without having to fill out forms ) they would have much more time to advise you.
I do not remember George Dixon having this problem

:D :D yeah! very true Eagle!

I was just wondering out loud whether juggling resources a little might be beneficial to them, and indeed the wisdom of "winding down" Crime Prevention Officers.
