I've started a new thread on this, so that another can stay on topic. On another thread Bensonby wrote:My understanding is that crime prevention officers are being wound-down. I believe the functions have broadly been taken over by Safer Neighborhood Teams.
When the flat below ours recently got burgled, we set about finding out some advice on suitable locks and security measures. We contacted the Safer Neighbourhood Team, who put us in touch with the local Crime Prevention Officer, who took two weeks to visit us, and when he did, wasn't able to provide much assistance at all.
Has anyone else had similar experience? Shouldn't there be more resources available to people who want to help themselves avoid becoming a victim of crime? Surely by investing a little more in this, the police would cut their own workload?
