Re: Valerie Tryon concert Sunday 12 June
Thank you for kind words advice Tim, but I am afraid most of what you are saying just goes over my head, its all just someone else's noise to me. I don't possess any kind of record player and don't intend to, the dawn chorus however is worth getting up for as is the wonderful quiet all around me in ...

Re: Valerie Tryon concert Sunday 12 June
Funny thing music, I am absolutely tone deaf, and couldn't carry a tune in a bucket. I can't see what the attraction of it all is, at school I drove my music teacher to distraction. Never bought a record in my life either, don't own any music playback gizmos either and the joy of moving out of SE26 ...

Re: Recommend me some books to read please
Encyclopedia Britannica.
The older versions contain some interesting how-to-do-it of things now illegal, or just repressed and are wonderfully non PC in places.
My 1911 edition goes into great detail about the manufacture of Nitro-Glycerine and the Distillation of various drinkables.

Suerly a man of your erudition would, when the need arose, have written B*****s or C***v or W****r in the traditional manner, or for a man of your status to have written them in latin or french as per tradition? :D My apologies if I have slandered you by my assuming you are a man in holy orders ...

Sir, On my irregular visit here I am shocked and stunned to find that a respected man of the cloth [as I assume Fr Orton to be ] has in the space of one post used the words bollocks chav and wanker. disregarding the fact that these words fall naturally to describe a certain demographic of SE26 I ...

Re: Kirkdale Village: What's in a name?
As an ex resident of Kirkdale, Panmure Rd actually this village lark has me weeping with laughter and brings me out of my self imposed slumber in the safety of my rural retreat. Its a sign of estate agent yuppy wannabe desperation, like trying to name Battersea South Chelsea, or extending Dulwich ...

Very well, I defer to the rules of the Admin. But, I would like it explained to me that why, when I was repeating something about an event that had been widely reported it is regarded as it was. It was not merely an opinion, but reported facts. Repeated. It must have been the way I said it then? end ...

And my post WAS NOT racist, it pointed out a true and verifiable fact, as reported in the press and other media. Exactly the same facts,as the news reported pointing out an anomoly, but here its censored. If folk are uncomfortable with truth then free speech is certainly dead, killed by those who ...

I'd like to suggest that you two first visit a working canal. There are no footbridges across locks. generally you just walk across the top of the lock gates, I am also intrigued as to how far down you think you will need to dig to find any evidence of a lock. You could conceivably have to dig down ...

You all seem to be obcessed with Pubs on here. I remember that pub as a dismal hole ....a few old geezers in cardys spending all night over a Guinness. Pubs in Penge were the reason I moved out, I hope they've changed. Queen Adeliade in Parish Lane, what a dive!!, home to all the scrotes for miles ...
