Re: Local Knowledge - Help Required Please Ref. Hall Drive Area

I put an offer in on a flat there and was advised that houses paid a service charge but the flats didn't. However, there is no overnight parking allowed on the drive itself. The properties that pay the charges appear to have their own drives or garages.

I agree sydnami. Getting a direct train to East Croydon, if only twice an hour would be great. I thought it had been spoken about but not heard anything.

I'm pretty sure it will have to have at least one member of staff on the premises for age verification purposes.

Thanks for this Stuart. I recently saw the Nan Golding film the Beauty and the Bloodshed about this issue but wasn't aware of the Sydenham link.

Re: Girton Road car park - introduction of parking charges

I saw today that Girton Road car park has now got cashless parking. While it is still free for two hours, you have to by phone and presumably give bank card details. What about people who don't have a mobile phone with them? Personally, I don't see what was wrong with getting a timed ticket from a ...

Re: Armed Criminality in Sydenham - Again

It seems that branch is permanently closed now. So the Nat West is the only bank in Sydenham now.
There has been a debate about financial exclusion recently, shutting down all the bank branches seems to going that way.
Wonder what the building will become? Good location opposite the station.

Re: Can anyone recommend a dentist please

Dr Bandlish and Associates on Gypsy Hill are excellent. I found Dr B through Yellow. Pages when I had awful toothache in the middle of the night. He came out to my house, dosed me up with local anaesthetic and opened his surgery on a Sunday morning to do an extraction. Charged me £15 and put the ...

Yes it is a shame Slatters has gone, not least because it provided employment for a lot a people, from mothers who could do the lunchtime rush to students who would work Saturdays. With so many regular customers and long serving staff, it was a focal point of the local community. Would often bump ...

Missed that bit MikeJ, thanks. So there is hope, but the idea of Beckenham being a marginal is something I'm struggling to get my head around :?

Re: Boundary commission - Sydenham to combine with Dulwich

I'm now living in Penge and it is proposed we become part of the Beckenham constituency, which I'm not keen on at all. Its bad enough having Bromley as my council (they're useless) and now it is proposed I have a Tory MP.

Re: Covid Vaccination- Sydenham Green Group Practice

Hi Coll, I'm sorry to hear of your experience with Sydenham Green, but my experience with them was the same as yours with the Vale; sent a text and selected my appointment time and date. I later got a notification from St Thomas's, which I ignored. Generally, my experience of Sydenham Green over the ...

Re: Lewisham planning 400 flats for Sydenham Road

In terms of KP Motors and the car wash, the guy who runs the garage says he actually owns the site so it's not an issue of him leasing the land for his business. He actually leases to the car wash - any building on that site would require a handsome pay off for him. Kevin is good guy who ran the ...

That's as maybe VB, but the fact that people park there because all other spaces are full suggests that there is demand for short term free parking around the high street.
