Does anyone else on this forum have this 'non man's land' issue?
I live on Crescent Wood Road, which has a Sydenham post code, but we are just one street into Southwark. This means that while my closest doctors is just across the road down Wells Park Road, I can't join as that is Lewisham, so we're at Paxton Green - which is actually Lambeth! ) (And very nice it is too.)
And schools - Kelvin Grove and Eliot Bank are actually closest to walk to, but again, they are in Lewisham.
The main question is for any other people in neighbourhood with kids - do you apply for Southwark schools, or Lewisham ones? Can you apply out of borough? When I called Southwark Education they just said - yes you're not very well served your end of the borough - people tend to go private. !! )
Any help thoroughly appreciated.
PS - have been reading forum for past couple months, love it, can't believe have only just found!
sydenham hill - no man's land?
You have probably found out already, but Lewisham do accept applications from out-of-Borough.
We are on Venner Road, which at the top end is Lewisham, but at our end is Bromley. We have applied to several schools in Bromley and one in Lewisham. As it happens Bromley were approx 6 weeks faster in processing applications and we have accepted a place in "our" borough.
Doctor Surgeries are not Borough-specific are they? Our GP practice is in Lewisham. As is my dentist.
