Getting to Longton Avenue/Wells Park Rd end

Post by Suella »

Please advise me on the safest way to travel to this area from Victoria on public transport (ie avoiding lonely walkways)

Try the half hourly Network Rail - Victoria to Sydenham train at .02 and .52 past each hour. Runs from 09.02 till 23.02 - maybe later but couldn't guarantee this.

You can then walk up from Sydenham via Westwood Hill to Jews Walk and then to Longton Grove/Longton Avenue junction via Beaulieu Avenue. Alternatively you can continue up Westwood Hill to Ormanton Road and then down this road to Longton Avenue.

Longton Avenue has houses well set back with long front gardens on one side and the park the other but is well lit

Hi Suella,

I was wondering the same myself. I was thinking of going to Crystal palace from Victoria and getting a bus to Wells Park Road. Do you think that a good option

Go to Sydenham Hill and then walk up Low cross wood lane. I do this nearly every day and i have never had to walk up there on my own when coming from the station because there are always lots of other people from the train.
It is not lonely and anyway the more people who do this the less lonely it will be. Plus its a really steep hill so you won't need to go to the gym any more!
Oh - and I almost forgot to say - its so stunning beautiful it'll put you in a good mood for the rest of the day.

Thanks for all your good suggestions. I was hoping there was a bus route from one of the nearby stations that you could recommend? Are there plans to operate buses from Sydenham Hill station? Assume the only car parking available is in College Road or the small station car park - both of which look fairly full.
