Doctor

Post by aliciamay »

Hi

I just moved to Sydenham and now am looking for a doctor to register with. I live just off Sydenham station, so have been told I can register with Wells Park Practice. Anyone know of any other options?
I know there's one just near the bridge, but that's my last option as I don't like the look of it.

Thanks,
A

You should be covered by the Sydenham Green practice (down at the Sydenham Green Health Centre). Their catchment area did cover you last time I checked. Ask at the counter for the map in case it has changed again.

There are two practices at SGHC - SG is the big one - you have to go into the main waiting area and its a long reception on the left. I've used them for more that 20 years and they have mostly been very good. As a big practice they have the occasional young GP still finding their way but have the infrastructure to deal with serious stuff. They are very socially committed and started the Sydenham Garden Project - do a search on the main website for more on this.

I have heard good reports of the SW practice too. I share your view of your nearest practice.

Perry Vale Surgery is quite near, modern and at least where my daughter's care is concerned, it is good.

My Doctor is based by the Bridge on Sydenham Road and I am very glad to say that I have only ever been there once in three years. From my one experience - not recommended.

Thanks a lot. I think I'll try to Sydenham Green practice. At least it's not too far from where I live, and I can walk it. Still not too familiar with the busses!

Hello,

I was, until recently, a member of the Sydenham Road surgery (the one by the bridge). It's got terrible service so if I were you I'd go to Sydenham Green, which is where I am now. The doctors are great, and you are able to book up to 2 weeks in advance, and have emergency appointments. They also send you reminders about your appointments by text which I think is really cool, and you can also view your medical records on computer at the surgery.
