Pool River (including Ravensbourne and Quaggy)
Presumably the Pool and connecting rivers were much wider in the Middle Ages. Do we know if boats or barges sailed down these rivers at all, possibly transporting wool or crops from Lewisham, Lee or even Sydenham towards London and the Thames (or any ports along the way)? Do we know what crops were produced at the Perry Hill farms? Do we know how the Lords of the Manors (Sydenham and Lewisham) made their money? The source of the Pool is at West Wickham, which held a weekly market, though was on no major medieval road from London.
