PLANS to replace the ageing National Sports Centre have been thrown into doubt after English Heritage vetoed plans to demolish the building in Crystal Palace Park.
Mayor Ken Livingstone's London Development Agency had hoped to knock down the Grade II-listed building and return the site to parkland while erecting a new state-of-the-art facility nearby.

A spokesman for the agency said: "English Heritage is saying it does not want us to demolish the National Sports Centre so we are looking to see how we can live with that.
