A new High Street Council?

Post by Bram »

STFers may or may not know that Lewisham's Town Clerk - sorry, "CEO" - is now working with Michael Gove, Dixon / Curry's Group Operations director and Tesco's director of Property Services on a review of Building Schools for the Future http://www.education.gov.uk/news/news/bsf-review. (The press release does not say if he is being paid for this ...)

They may also remember a proposal as reported in the SLP to pull down the Town Hall and replace it with a new “public services hub” - http://www.southlondonpress.co.uk/tn/ne ... d=lewisham. But note
How the council plans to finance the scheme is currently blocked from public viewing.
With all the networking opportunities presented, will these great minds join up the dots, sell out Lewisham's property portfolio in its entirety, contract out all services, and all with the enthusiastic backing of Labour Councillor Alan Smith?

Who's to say we wouldn't get better services?

Here's to democracy!
