virgin media

Post by fat_mike »

Just before I blast (have a go at) a Virgin Media call worker, has anyone else experience problems with their Virgin cable/broadband. Mine has been up and down for the last month, before that it had been working fine for over a year. I live in the peak hill area.

Yes, it has been rubbish for the last couple of months, with at least two day-long outages of both TV and internet.

It was great for the previous two years.

I had the same problem with Virgin a couple of months back. No TV or internet for over two weeks. After numerous phone calls and repeatedly being told it was an area problem being worked on I found out that my neighbours Virgin TV and internet was working fine. After three further phone calls they sent out Mr Repair man who fixed the problem with the set top box within ten minutes.
Virgin, please get your act together!

I've found that Virgin Media's service is pretty good these days and that their customer services are very good. It used to be quite slow intermittently three or four years ago, but only seems to "drop out" occasionally now.

Mine "dropped out" on Wed this week and an engineer came to check inside and out and said the outside cable needed to be replaced, so made the first appointment for 6 July! Two weeks shock horror. Meanwhile, apparently there were no other reported faults (Silverdale area). However, it's magically revived itself today, so without hopefully speaking too soon, I'm keeping my fingers crossed and touching wood ;)

Virgin Medi has provided me a good TV, phone, broadbamd and mobile service for several years. Just one SE26 wide broadband outage about 2 or 3 months ago which took a couple of days to fix - frustrating - but phone and tv still worked. I reckon they are reliable.

Apparently the phone/TV is on a different part of the system, which is good, as their recorded message on the fault number says if there's work going on in the area.

Incidentally, I have been offered a few pounds compensation for my recent outage (which at that point they assumed the engineer would fix when he arrived within 48 hrs, so before it was thought likely to take two weeks). I asked the engineer if he knew if we could have asked for compensation for the 2-day outage a couple of months ago. He reckoned we should ask. It's a bit late now really but useful to know for the future methinks.

Does anyone know how easy it is to get a slot on a computer at the public library in Sydenham please? My sis reckons that the 30 mins allowed where she is located is realistically about 20 mins; better than nothing though :)
