Hello residents of Sydenham. I am a resident of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, and I have a little mystery I was hoping someone in your fine town might be able to help me solve. I recently acquired an original watercolor painting of St. Antholin Church, which I understand met its demise in 1875. My understanding is also that the original spire which was atop St. Antholin is now located in Sydenham. I have searched for more information regarding the artist, W. J. Baker, or perhaps W. T. Baker, but to no avail. I don`t have a date of the painting, but it is authentically well-aged and the seller suspected mid to late 1800`s. Its a lovely little painting, and I would be very tickled to find more about the artist. Any tips would be very welcome. Thank you!!

It's located half way up Round Hill off Dartmouth road.

you might have to save your pics to a free online photo website - I don't really think you want to give us all access to your C:\ drive.

free online photo storage sites:
Webshots, Picassa, Photobucket, Flickr, etc. etc.

Sharla, the spire of St Antholin's was damaged by lightning in 1850 (or earlier, according to some sources) and bought by Robert Harrild who erected it in his garden at Sydenham. Unles your painting is earlier than 1850, it would show the replacement spire.
