There were various reports some months ago that with their new rail franchise, Southern were comitted to implementing Oyster Pay as You Go to and from Sydenham station. There were also reports that it would become available for use "at the end of the summer".
Well now we're at the end of the summer and apparently Southern's new franchise agreement begins on Sunday 20th. No news of PAYG, however. Anyone know any more on this? I can't find a thing which is not a simple vague commitment to PAYG sometime.
Oyster Pay As You Go
Oystercard PAYG has twice been delayed. The problem is that some of the Train Operating Companies failed to agree terms with TfL on the operation of the service (Southern who operate our local trains signed up very early incidentally - so don't blame them).
Oystercard PAYG will come into operation on the 2nd January 2010 - and all senior rail managers are saying that this is a date that won't be broken this time.
Why not attend the Future Rail Services public meeting 7.30pm, Naborhood Centre 17th September when the Oystercard PAYG issue will be discussed and senior rail managers will be on hand to answer any questions?
