Sydenham on Streetmaps

Post by Steve Grindlay »

Google Streetmaps has gone live, and the views of Sydenham are pretty impressive, although Sydenham Road seems to have been photographed at dusk.

I remembered where I was when I saw the google car and was delighted to find I (or at least my hands on the steering wheel of my car) have been immortalised on streetview!

This is very distracting - I am supposed to be working!

The picture of our house suggests it was taken late afternoon on a very, very hot day (all windows open). I note they have pixellated car registration so screwing it as an investigative tool for DVLA!

BTW this is not Sydenham: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/03/19 ... iew_vomit/

For those that know where i live, I am immortalised on the front door steps, doing some DIY with a hammer.

Of course, I meant to call it Street View; I was just a bit over-excited at just having found an image of us getting out of our car in East Dulwich.

Steve, how can you be sure it's you and your better half in E Dulwich.? I mean your heads are pixelated and your car registration is similarly mangled. Do you recall seeing the Googlecar on that day? or is there still an undeniable likeness?

We saw the google car, I'd never have found it otherwise. Here's the proof:

The car features twice, as it's also parked outside our house.

Yep, that's defo Mrs Grindlay, but i'll have to take your word for it that is Mr Grindlay gettting out of the passeger side. It was causing eye-strain trying to make out your features. Apologies for being a tad doubtful.

Well spotted Mummycat. I looked at my picture more closely and that was the day i was disposing of a broken computer and ensuring that nobody could recover any data from it.

I dont recognise this place - where are the landmarks - there are no roadworks, diggers, temporary traffic lights or traffic queues?

Looks quite a nice area to live in, though; it's leafy and green and the sun is shining. Is it paradise?

Forest Hill Central looks much nicer on Google Street View - just the right height. http://is.gd/odaN

Pat, I'll think you'll find some green Heras fencing along Dartmouth Road, towards Kirkdale, Kirkdale and Willow Way.
