Community garden launch and competition

Hi everyone - just wanted to let you know our soon-to-be created community garden in the quiet bit of Stanstead Road, along from Shannons garden centre - and the competition to name it! I'll keep it brief, but we are having a fun launch on Sunday 27 July, 2pm-5pm and the plaque is being unveiled by CBeebie presenter Sarah-Jane Honeywell!

There's going to be music, games, stalls, guided planted sessions, a tombola, fabulous face-painters, a balloon artist and loads more! We are looking for inspired ideas for the garden name - something historically linked perhaps, from all you local historians out there! Another hint is that the garden is in front of an enormous wall. Closing date for entries is 11 July 2008. You can email them to stanstead.gardeners@lewisham.org.uk or post them to 22 Stanstead Road, London SE23.

One last thing: we are looking for volunteers to help on the day, and someone to lend us a gazebo in case of rain. All offers very welcome!! If you want to come and meet us, we're having a meeting on Thurs 3 July at 7pm. Please PM me for futher info.
