A vague notice is attached to a post at the station alleyway which says that a restriction will apply from 29 Jul for three months. It's marked as a draft. It doesn't say which stretch of road or give detail as to why.
As the 29th is tomorrow, Monday, maybe something will happen, or not...
Notice of Silverdale traffic restriction from 29 Jul
Re: Notice of Silverdale traffic restriction from 29 Jul
It's closed for Thames Water works, something to do with a leak. According to the Thames Water website this is due to be completed on the 31st. Until then, it's lovely and quiet, except for the moped drivers driving on the pavement...

I agree. It is lovely and quite. Can watch the tv at a "normal" level. Hardly any thumping music = bliss. Thames Water please do take your time
Re: Notice of Silverdale traffic restriction from 29 Jul
Been great, found parking easily close to the station for a change!
Re: Notice of Silverdale traffic restriction from 29 Jul
The cones have been moved anyway and cars are passing freely through...!
Re: Notice of Silverdale traffic restriction from 29 Jul
Will great sadness, they are beginning to fill the hole and it looks like the road will reopen tomorrow...
Maybe it's time to start a campaign for some traffic calming measures along this road (other than the useless bumps), the closure has highlighted the insane way people drive along here. Anyone know who to contact?

You can look at streetbuilder/eastsydenham or sydenhameast (cannot remember which way round it is) - they are looking at ways to reduce traffic and/or traffic calming measures in this area - you can add comments too. Think there is a meeting in September. It is quite interesting. Well worth doing - anything to reduce the traffic and noise levels along Silverdale will be great.
