PUB SAVED FROM THE BULLDOZERS
A boarde-up pub loods set to have been saved from the bulldozers. Developers had planned to knock down the Victorian building and replace it with flats. But following a campaign by locals, Lewisham council in September agreed to list the Greyhoundin Sydenham prevening it from demolition. Owners Wealdrost Ltd had planned a legal challenge to the listing, but last week a director posted a statement on the SYDENHAM TOWN FORUM indicating the company's plans had chaged.*
The statement which had been looked at by more that 1,000 residentsin less then a weekhad been welcomed by the community. Sydenham Society chairwomen pat Trembath said "This is truly welcome news."
