Apparently, the station was rebuilt in 1875, so is there any photos/illustrations of the first station?* Also, I can't remember which article/book I got this information from, since info about the first station is scarce.
*This is the best I can do...

Thicket Road and beyond presumably.Bit confused here. What are we looking at here?
I have wondered whether the line went up to the station before the tunnel was bored for the connection to Wandsworth Common and beyond.
The same view from the opposite direction.
No offer of an A3 scanner yet, so this is scanned from a photocopy of an original, if not unique, print and hence the lines across the image.
From the Day and Sons portfolio of views of the Crystal Palace, 1854

Oh, sorry. What you see in the picture I posted is the low level corridor walkway that joined the station with the main building, so it was like an extension of the south wing to keep the Victorian visitors covered from rain. The 2-storey part of the low level corridor terminus is what joined directly onto the station--itself positioned behind it--both old and new buildings were in the same position judging by maps. The current building (1875) has distinctive tall chimneys/architecture, but the original building was evidently much shorter*, and so not much can be seen in the photo.davegr wrote:Bit confused here. *I heard it resembled a wooden shack of some sort.
Terry's picture is Anerley based.

Terry, the pic you posted shows the train-track leading to Anerley Station further down the hill, so isn't ideal for comparison with the Crystal Palace Low Level. It may end up confusing people, who might think the Anerley Gardens buildings are part of the original Crystal Palace station.
Something like this would be better...
If I could find a view of the current building from a similar viewpoint as the opening pic then everyone will be able to spot the difference. Also, there is a very nice view taken from the South Tower looking down towards the station. I've not been able to find that, either. Maybe I need to scan it in.
