Falkor's virtual tour of the Greek and Roman Courts

Post by Falkor »

Following on from the Egyptian Court, I now guide you through the Greek and Roman Courts in one fell swoop... (for technical info about the contents of the courts see Terry's thread)

Entrance from the Nave

Image
Entrance from the Nave. Note: the Greek style columns.

Image
Similar to previous view.

Image
A wide view of inside the main Central Court, looking 45 degrees to the right, with the Roman Court through the arches.

Image
A window into the previous view.

Image
Turning right 90 degrees with the walls of the Roman Court behind the Greek columns and an exit to the Nave on the right.

Image
Same as the previous view, but during construction.

Image
Similar to the previous view; this time looking 45 degree to the left, straight towards the Roman Court, shifted closer to the wall on the Nave side of the Central Court. This photo is also from the time of construction.

Image
Shifting back 45 degrees to an earlier viewpoint; this time with a more close-up view of the Roman arches leading to the adjacent court.

Image
Same as the previous photo, but in more detail.

Image
Same viewpoint again, but the photographer has taken step back.

Image
Again, a very similar view to the previous ones.

Image
The same common view during construction.

Image
Still looking in the same viewpoint, but farther back to the original entrance point in the middle of the Central Court.

Image
Rotating a bit to the left to almost face the back of the court. The Roman arches are now out of view.

Image
The same corner of the court previously examined, but in the 1920s when it was home to the Imperial War Museum.

Image
Back to classical times, facing the rear of the court towards the covered Atrium and Gallery. The left side of the Greek Court is covered in the tour of the Egyptian Court. We will now proceed onwards to come to the

Image
Atrium, looking towards the Roman Court on the right. Turning back to our original position, we proceed onwards to the

Image
Gallery at the back of the Greek and Roman Courts, looking right (the left of the Gallery is covered in the tour of the Egyptian Court).

Image
Moving along the Gallery, columns of the Greek Court separating this part from the Atrium are on the right hand side.

Image
Similar to previous view.

Image
Reaching the 2nd half of the Gallery, the Greek columns have disappeared, now replaced by arches, meaning we're now at the back of the Roman Court.

Image
Same as the previous photo, but in more detail.

Image
The end of the Gallery. We now have no choice but to turn to the right and take a blind exit out of the Roman Vestibule.

Image
Looking back at the entrance to the Roman Vestibule from the Nave.

Image
We enter the arches of the Roman Vestibule. The Alhambra Court is accessible on the right, and the main Roman Court is accessible on the left, which is where we will now explore...

Image
A wide view of the Roman Court.

Image
Turning almost 180 degrees we face the exit of the Roman Court with the English Medieval Court just visible across the Nave.

Image
Similar to the previous view.

Image
From the Nave we turn right around again to face the main entrance of the Roman Court.

Image
Sinilar to the previous view.

Image
The Roman Court during construction.

Image
The Greek Court after the fire.

Anymore photos out there of either Courts/Vestibule?
