Heard about this 2 weeks ago from some friends who live in South Norwood. They've been keeping their cat in at night since this started happening.

Hope the person is caught who's doing this!

If cats kept indoors our bird population can breathe a sigh of relief.

Surely an Eagle isn't afraid of a cat?

Not an Eagle no. But the poor smaller birds have a genocide being imposed on them by domestic animals which I believe were not native to our shores.

Thankfully I have a cat that is too upper class to mingle and does not go out. It may have something to do with living on the 1st floor.... It's a long way down hahaha.

I think it would be 'ornithocide'. But the OED records a single use of the word 'avicide', which I think is better, in that both elements are from Latin ('avis'='bird').
