Sorry for the short notice about this
Come one, come all to the
Kirkdale Christmas Tree Lights switch on.
Saturday 5 December at 5pm.
Meet on the corner outside the old Woodman Pub / the roundabout where Kirkdale meets Dartmouth Road
This is the first time we have had a Christmas Tree in Kirkdale so it would be great if you could come along - singers and musicians are also needed.

Re: Kirkdale Christmas Tree Lights switch on - 5 December 5p
Many thanks to Paul and our other Ward Councillors, Maja Hilton and Peter Bernards, for funding and organizing our very first (at least in the 15 years I've lived here!) Kirkdale Christmas tree. And huge thanks also to Maya Onyett, our Assembly manager, for all her hard work behind the scenes. Thanks also go to Baris and Alan and their colleagues at Skanska for all their technical and practical skills.
I think the tree looks grand and is a lovely blue shimmer in the distance when seen from high up on Sydenham Hill. And it's a good focal point for the entrance to Kirkdale (Sydenham's Original High Street).
It was an informal and fun lighting up and really nice to see so many children turning out, singing along and counting the tree awake.
It's great to see Kirkdale Old High Street getting some recognition and here's hoping this signals the start of a renewed sense of place and many more happy community gatherings.
Merry Christmas everyone!
