Attempted robbery at the Abbey National

Post by simon »

Two weeks after the Nat West was robbed, thieves this morning attempted to rob the Abbey. They were unsuccesful, made their escape and thankfully nobody was hurt.
What is strange about this is that there was an increased police presence in the high street this morning. Two community support officers were standing outside Nevs newsagents watching the Nat West, while a video surveilance van was parked opposite the Nat West watching a delivery to the bank. Either it was coincidence and they were watching to see if there was a repeat of the raid of two weeks ago, or they were acting on intelligence that was slightly inaccurate. Alternatively, the robbers may have targeted the Nat West, seen the police and chose to do the Abbey instead.
Never a dull moment is there?

Thanks for the posting Simon. Can you please tell us the source of the information? Who saw/reported what? Were you there?

Sorry to be a nuisance - its a little rule we have to have here for crime reports.

No problem admin. I was in the opticians having my eyes tested at the time and spoke to a witness outside the Abby about 20 minutes after the incident happend, the police were in attendance. In Nevs newsagents I spoke to a woman who ws in the Abbey when the attempted robbery took place. She said that as the thieves made their escape, one of them removed his balaclava and ran into a woman, who was therefore able to provide a good ID.
I understand the need to verify crime stories but can assure that this did actually happen and, while I was not present, I was pretty close.
