Sydenham where the streets are paved with...

Post by paultee76 »

Perhaps it is just my perception as a recent immigrant to SE26 from the depths of Kent and no longer driving everywhere but I cannot help but notice the level of animal by-product on the streets.

My journey to the station is a vertiable assault course of excrement...or excitement if my shoes happen upon a pile :o

Byne, Tredown, Homecroft and Venner all seem to be blighted by this problem. Reporting it to the Council seems to make little difference. I just wonder what goes through the minds of dog owners clearly they don't give s**t whilst their mutts do.

Next time I see an offender I will be returning their property through their letter box.

Just sad and brings down the perception of an area...

It's the caliber and mentality of a lot of Sydenham residents. There's no respect whatsoever from some people. The beautiful, shiny new pavements are covered in chewing gum too...

A lot of it is down to our plentiful local population of foxes. Even more pungent than the canine variety and particularly prolific at the moment for some reason. I quite often find it on my doorstep in the morning, which is nice.

We are a bit further down and at Lennard Rd, by Alexander Park. It's a main route for a lot of school kids and commuters going to and from Penge East and the cars are allowed to park half on the pavement. People still allow their dogs to foul on the street and it gets spread right up the path. It's lovely when I come out with two kids in the morning and arm full of bags etc. we sorted the fix issue which also poo on our doorstep! We bought a green wheeli bin for all our plastic/glass/tin recycling and now they don't come here. Council in Bromley don't supply lids for recycling boxes, the foxes love to get at the rubbish and foul to scent their patch!

It only takes four or five selfish individuals to walk their dog a couple of times a day to create a right mess of our streets.

The foxes are weird, they often seek out things like cat water bowls, etc.

I agree. The owners of these offending canines should be taught a lesson. Putting the offending excretia through their letter box would be a start.
