Due to unforseen circumstances, tonight's psychic event has been cancelled.

I didn't see that coming!
Does anyone actually believe this is anything other than a trick a la the (excellent in my view) Derren Brown (who seems better at it than most Psychics).

How could you doubt that this sort of stuff is all for real.. ??
Must dash, I have a psychic message coming through!
Re: Psychic event @ golden lion
I knew you would say that.
I also know what my son is getting for Christmas. I have felt his presents.

Re: Psychic event @ golden lion
Is this an actual event that is (or should I say was) taking place? I would go if it is. I know, as we all do, about "cold readings" (i.e. watching reactions and building on them), but I know two peeps who from experience seriously believe there's something to this psychic stuff.
I'm on the fence since we know that humans don't use all of their brain blah blah.
Silly aside: I had a subscription to Psychic News some years ago which the newsagent would put in a pile with other ordered mags behind the counter. I could always tell him that mine was the "sixth down" (whatever) and he'd look at me wonderingly at how I new. It was simple actually, it was the only one that was newsprint rather than a glossy mag

I'd state with 100% certanty that there is no such thing as a psychic, that you cannot talk with dead people or predict future events because of a vision (the only way to predict the future is to look at past evidence). Houdini agrees. Don't you Houdini? Houdini? Hello" Are you there? HOUDINI!!! OI, 'ARRY…

Is there a John in the audience?
Anything which helps people recover from the pain of bereavement is fine by me to a point.
The universe is a very large place and we have a very limited understanding of what it actually is. I would not ever dream of being so arrogant as to opine 100% categorically that there is no such thing as a Psychic? but do think that Psychic powers are 99.999% unlikely. There is money to be had from the heartbreak of death and this is where you have to question if it is decent to pray on peoples desperation for answers?
I give the whole thing a thumbs down.

Re: Psychic event @ golden lion
As a result of the original post and the Psychic night NOT actually being cancelled word got around and less than 50% of the people who had booked for this event turned up on the night.
As a result Unhappy Manager. Unhappy customers and most of all........Not a happy Medium.
Thanks Skep.

Did the ghosts not turn up either?
Sorry Pip, couldn't resist. I genuinely thought it had been cancelled due too skeptics post. I think the whole thing is a load of gumf, but, if I ever get a free evening, I'd genuinely like to see a medium 'perform' in the flesh other than Derren Brown (whom I think is astonishingly talented and seems better at it than any medium I've seen perform on various programs, despite admitting using techniques like cold reading and stating clearly that he isn't a medium).
I hope next time you get a full house. But surely the psychic should have seen this coming?

Re: Psychic event @ golden lion
Fool Britannia ITV 6.30pm are doing a prank tonight of a medium before a theatre audience but whose abilities desert him. Should be a hoot.

Re: Psychic event @ golden lion
Just catching up with the forum...
I assumed the "unforseen" gag was well enough worn.... as the initial responses support.... Seriously?... With my username? :shakeshead:
Announced today: the word gullible has been removed from the dictionary.
However I recently heard an interview with the McCann's lawyer when he said that the family had been approached by over 100 con artist/fantasists claiming they could find Madeleine. Grim.
Also, the phone hacking in the Milly Dowler case is not as utterly mind bogglingly terrifying as the police visiting a psychic to help find her.
There are few groups in the present day who we allow to peddle such insidious bullshit on bereaved/vulnerable targets.
Harmless fun. Not.
