W'happen ?

Post by fishcox »

Sorry, but I had just had my dinner, a lovely homemade chile-con-carne, and I though I would check out what has happened on my second favourite website and forum, only to find out that bits have been taken away.

I can only assume that someone who has registered under the moniker 'anti eu' (now there is originality) has been unable to contain their primitive urges, and launched into some sort of rant.

Whilst it is highly likely that I would have been diametrically (look it up 'anti eu') opposed to such rants, and that they would most likely have been on the anti-social side of town, I really would have liked to have read them, even if it was only for the poor spelling.

Thanks to our forefathers (and indeed, in some cases, our fathers) we have the privilege of a forum such as this, in which we can give our opinions and views.

Was whatever was written so bad ? In a civilised society, and especially in a civilised forum, should we not be allowed to read someones views, even if they are abominable.

I am a Socialist (with a big 's') and a liberal (with a small 'l') and am vehemently against pretty much everything anti eu represents, yet I would love to see whatever was writtten, as rabid ranters generally dig their own grave. I cannot believe that people with such views actually exist, especially in south London (okay, maybe Eltham then).

Anti Eu, when you get to your allocated three score years and ten (that's seventy, by the way) and you look back on your life, I hope you have huge regrets at all the negative thoughts you harboured to your fellow human beings.

Do you know that your DNA is 99.9999% the same as that of your fellow Arab, Jew, Protestant, Jehovahs Witness, Mormon, Methodist, Quaker, Catholic, etc etc. We are all pink on the inside.

In fact, all of our DNA's are 99% the same as a frog, which, sort of shows us where we all come from (or maybe where we are going to).

Well to put it in brief, I was debating on serious political issues with a couple of other forum members. Because of my exposing straight talk, some politically-correct minded people got offended and began to post abusive messages calling me "racist", "bigot" and later using expletives. Then the wise forum administrator decided to delete all the posts which was a shame and a loss of freedom of speech, but as its their site they are welcome to do that.

Well, if I make it. I'm not sure whats going to happen if we get under the EU dictatorship. And what negative thoughts are those - freedom from totalitarianism?

Odd that you miss out Muslims. Well, the thing is that despite our DNA being so similar, world cultures are very different. Some cultures want to supress women, force marriages, mutilate female genitals, use violence to spread their beliefs and follow books that command taxing and showing hardness to the infidel unbelievers. I think those cultures are inferior. I don't like "multi-culturalism" and prefer to have one British culture.

It shows nothing of the sort. Because two buildings are made of 99% the same materials doesn't mean one evolved out of the other - it may mean they had the same Creator.

Hi Fishcox,

I had a lovely afternoon out and was somewhat surprised on my return to find 18 posts some of which were in flagrant defiance of posting criteria (abuse, language etc). Removing, or asking the posters to remove these bits would have rendered the remainder of the thread incomprehensible. And IMHO the arguement was not being progressed but the same opinions were being hurled more vehemently at each other. So I decided to cut the thread.

Strangely this appears to have the support of the main protagonists!

I did it at a stage where the lines had already been drawn so you have the flavour of what was going on. I have no wish to censor the publication of political ideas. I have to restrict sometimes how they are expressed - my god - am I starting to sound like David Blunket?

So Fishcox - I presume you are not suggesting we abandon the posting agreement and allow a complete free-for-all? This would probably lead to unacceptable legal & other implications for us.

I have moved this thread to Town Website which is the place for discussing Administration of the site.

Fishcox, you get the general idea as to the offensive rubbish that this 'anti-eu' character was coming out with. At first, his/her comments were only mildly offensive, so I thought I would do a little 'experiment' and press his/her buttons. As I suspected, they were harbouring some pathetic, nasty little views that got increasingly disgusting as the afternoon wore on - gay people are perverts being one of the high (or low) lights. You can't have a sensible conversation with people like that, hence the eventual descent in to name calling. Unfortunately, admin chose to take me and another poster to task, citing language etc as his reason for cutting the thread. Sad really, but there you go.

Fishcox,

Quite how this poster with his track record of posts yesterday still exists on here I don't know.

To call the homosexual community, perverts and still remain I don't know.
To be so generalistic towards Islam, and still remain I don't know

The language wasn't aimed at the user, it was merely in conversation like

'So if your kids came home from school, and said they were gay, lesbian, shirt lifter, carpet muncher or whatever kids are calling homosexual people this week, what would you say'

I think Newmans worst comment was 'trash' tut tut tut, what is the world coming too, Gays are evil and perverted, Islam is evil and against the west, but to call someone trash means all is removed.

I also note his comment on the Labour party thrusting 'positive discrimination' for the gays down the throat of children in school, remained unanswered. Simply because it isn't thrusted, it's because finally a community is able to enjoy the same age of consent as their hetrosexual counterparts.

Yours

Adam, the sad thing is that he'll be back on here today, spouting more ill informed comments, because he has basically been allowed to get away with his actions of yesterday. It was you and me who were held accountable for the thread being cut. If you tell him enough is enough, he'll do the usual bigot thing and start moaning about the pc brigade stopping his freedom of speech. What he fails to realise is that freedom of speech brings with it certain responsbilities, something that his nasty little worldview doesn't take in to account.

Are you trying to wind me up too?

Town Hustings is about the discussion of politics - of all sorts - which by definition means some of it will be utterly repellant. But that is what supposedly a democracy is about.

The condition of posting is that there is no personal abuse. Admitting that you were deliberately trying to wind the guy up (and succeeding) puts you in the wrong.

It means I truncated the thread and fishcox quite rightly, for one, was irritated by the result. I have to say this is a tactic shared by the extreme right in trying to break up left wing discussion.

Can I ask Anti-eu, Newman & Adam to take a 24 hour raincheck on this because I have to work without which there will be no STF. So I don't want to be watching this every 5 minutes in case there is another outburst.

Hello my friends,

Its interesting to see you back, despite one of you in the deleted posts saying twice you would say no more on the matter.

Well it is my political view that homosexuality is a perversion. I hold this view after a study of biology. I also have a sense of morality. I believe that homosexuals should have no recognition in the tax systems and it should not be taught to our children in schools as an equal alternative lifestyle. Unfortunately certain forum members think their politically correct views are superior and wish my straight forward truthful common sense points to be silenced, as they are unable to counter my persuasions with reasoned debate.

Regarding Islam, from my study of the religion, I see that it is a dangerous and threatening religion. What happens in Islamic states across the world reinforces this view. One instance I mentioned was the joy across citizens of some of these countries when two towers in America fell. Muslims are commanded to fight the unbelievers in the Koran. This happens everyday throughout the world, and sometimes goes extreme such as in the case of suicide bombing. I also would like to point out that many "muslims" don't actually follow their own religion. I would like to stop "real" Muslims getting in this country because they are a threat, and one example was the terrorist in the news yesterday. I also think that as this country is Britain we should retain British culture and dont want "multi-culturalism". I believe immigration should be minimised and those that do come in should integrate into British culture, and should not bring their practices of arranged marriage, genital mutilation, halal, religious violence and other things which clash with our Great British culture.

Now, my firends, if you disagree with my political views, then please don't say my views are "offensive rubbish", "increasingly disgusting", "ill informed comments", "bigot thing", "nasty little worldview" or other silly rediculous comments. Show where WHY my views are wrong. Debate, don't attack.

I asked you to take a 24 hour raincheck. You ignored this. You also posted political stuff in the wrong category.

Are you prepared to follow the admin's guidelines as agreed?

I rest my case, admin.

Anyway, I give you my word that I will now take a 24 hour rain check, as I also have work to do. The only reason I posted again was to respond to your previous comments that put myself and Adam in an unfair light.

Newman,

Once the blue pen comes out - you can't be fair. It helps if people try not to make that happen. That means trusting me when someone goes over the line to bring it back. There are a number of ways I try and do this. They have, until yesterday, succeeded.

But I was away from my desk and things developed quickly. My decision to truncate was based not only on what had been posted but my view of where things were heading. I might have got it wrong - but I have to carry the can either way so I had to make a decision.

BTW the 24 hour check is on the hot issue. You are all very welcome to continue to posting on any other subject - especially the shortcomings of moderation on STF!

Admin, I'm done with it. I feel grubby just exchanging posts with that character.

I don't want this to escalate in to a war of words, so have sent you a private message to let you know my thoughts. So long.

I've had enough of him/her/it too.

I have never read a more moronic collection of postings in my life.

I suggest he/she/it studies the Qu'ran, if reading is within his/her/its capabilities, and then tells me where the book says any of the things that he/she/it has imagined.

The overall message of the Qu'ran is not dissimilar to that of the Bible, in fact, you can just about get a cigarette paper between the Islamic message and the Christian message.

If he/she/it doesnt like our multi cultural society, then what on earth is he/she/it doing in Lewisham. He/she/it may be entitled to his/her/its views, but they are not ones I want to hear anymore.

Now please go away.

As an addenda (having just read through the rantings again) I love the way he/she/it wrote that all immigrants should become part of our 'Great British Culture'.

Chicken Tikka Massala is now pretty much our National dish, and going out for an 'Indian' (many of which are not Indian, but from the Islamic Republic of Pakistan) is now also part of our 'Great British Culture'.

I quite like the idea of us all, eventually, becoming the same colour, as in the 'melting pot theory' which was advocated in the United States, following their Civil War.

All apart from anti eu, who's family tree surely ends at him/her/it.

Insh'allah

I had no idea that a local forum could get so juicy!

I think the more important question is why do you feel so passionately negative about homosexuality and Islam? and with what grounds to you base these strong beliefs? Do your whole family hold these same views?
