No Trains before 9am / Weather Watch

London Overground has just tweeted that there will be no trains before 9am tomorrow, or until they are sure the line is safe. Southern have said the same, so I assume it's a Network Rail decision.

The BBC online weather forecast is currently showing the worst wind as 25mph at 6am. Breezy but no worse. This doesn't add up!

As at 945pm it's gone surprisingly calm - hardly a leaf moving.

Calm before the storm? Me not clever enough to know what atmospheric thingies cause that.

Buses are running from Sydenham as is the DLR from Lewisham plus the underground. Recommendations:

* Bus 75 to Lewisham + DLR
* Bus 176 to Waterloo + Underground (more chance of a seat as it starts from Penge)

Forget trains or overground until after 9am. Sydenham station (non)-departure board:

First scheduled trains ex Sydenham are the 9.09 to London Bridge (originating Norwood Junction) and 9.14 to Highbury & Islington (originating Crystal Palace). But keep checking for updates.

DLR are now reporting severe delays. Hence central London is now bus 176 or wait till after 9am.

My spy on the 176 got to the Elephant in under 45 mins despite trees down at the Horniman and Walworth Road.

My spies tell me their offices are deserted and the tubes are almost empty - and yes that includes the Jubilee to Canada Water!

Obviously most people didn't even attempt to get to work this morning which is pretty disgraceful. But then admins should not voice opinions.

Sydenham Station 09.09 & 09.14 have been cancelled. 10.16 is now showing as the earliest departure. Bus 176 is still your best bet to the Elephant and pick up the empty tubes from there.

National Rail seem to be having problems with their website. Surprise, surprise!
The good news is their mobile app is working just great if you are hunting for trains.

The 10.16 H&I ex Sydenham has been cancelled. The earliest running trains now showing are 10.42 to West Croydon & 10.46 to H&I.

Nothing doing on the Penge East line. Lower Sydenham is more hopeful. The 10.36 to Cannon Street may run .. but watch this space.

Managed to get on a 176. First I decided to get down to Forest Hill because of the 185 Victoria option but they were just driving through. Got the bus back up to Sydenham and managed to get on one. Not sure what they're like now but I'd advise going from Penge.

My good lady tells me there is a train scheduled for London Bridge - going via Norwood Junction - so going back on yourself - at 10:57.
