I do not believe , from my travels , much fare evasion on London Buses.
Stagecoach are a world wide company with many bus and train franchises , not all profit made in UK.
Are you asking for the state to run all transport. That would involve massive union control , vast cost increases and because the taxpayer cannot borrow anymore , massive cuts in services.
In my opinion Bus services in London vastly improved over 30 years ago.
Train services have also generally improved from the olde days of BR.

I'm talking about Stagecoach UK set up by Brian and Angela Souter. Not some other US Stagecoach company.
Look how much money East Coast has generated for the Treasury since National Express were sacked. They are RMT/ASLEF staffed and they make tens of millions.
Treat the staff legally, respectfully etc and there won't be any union/stadd action.
If TfL go ahead with this then there should be more opportunities to top up your oyster card. Not enough shops top up oyster while half of the time there is a notice in the shop window saying "oyster machine doesn't work". Then think about Night Buses. No shops and hardly any stations are open at 2-3am - how are you supposed to top up? Most drivers are alright but there's always one that gets his/her kicks by being horrible to people (a bad experience I had on the number 40).
But surly TfL would save more money by not introducing stupidly expensive borismasters with a "conductor" which doesn't do anything? (While strangely trying to sack guards on London Overground trains when they actually do something)

Many station ticket machines are outside of the station.
I think the system has downtime every day as well.
