Re: 5 year anniversary
THanks (and for the pm's) lol, it's like having cards!
It would be interesting to find out how long the users of this forum have lived here. Is it mostly new or old blood on these boards or a mix?
Anyone care to share?

One-and-a-half years, and I like it!
Re: 5 year anniversary
I arrived in Sydenham in 1985 and not too many complaints.

Since 1981.
Re: 5 year anniversary
Since 2004. I came over the hill from West Dulwich, where I couldn't afford to buy.
Before that, I lived in Derby, Colchester, North London and West London. This is my 15th home.

Oh, well, if we are going to talk about other places we have lived:
Belfast
Edinburgh
London - Islington, East Dulwich, Forest Hill
New York
Forest Hill again.

Dagenham, Balham, Woodford Green, Maida Vale, Putney, Southfields, Peckham ... I don't count outside the M25 - that's not life as we know it!

Re: 5 year anniversary
If where you live = where you keep your winter clothes in summer and vice versa:
Leicester; Hampstead (well, NW3 anyway); Ladywell (SE13); Sydenham.

Ilfracombe in Devon
Taunton
Northolt (awful place)
Hampstead (where were you Robin? I was in Shirlock Road).
Brockley (first place I bought which turned into a nightmare with no help from Sir Bullock)
Sydenham (home).

Re: 5 year anniversary
1956 till late seventies (1979 I think )...Since then: Brockley, Forest hill, Plumstead,
Welling, Blackfen, but never that far away! People, shops, etc may have changed but
layout remains much the same comparitively. Same traffic jams (bottle-necks) for years
now!
It was a fantastic place in the 60's but most other places were too..

5 years ago Leenewham? Wow, that' s a long long time to be here and still like it - happy anniversary!
Back then, actually, I didn't even know Sydenham existed... (south of the river, where exactly? No undergrounds? how do people manage over there? do they have electric kettles ??) that kind of utter ignorance and sheer prejudice...
...and now that's where hopefully I will find my final resting place - I love it. And that's saying a lot after the previous homes:
Lisbon (so beautiful)
London Camden (v exciting)
Scottish Borders (truly zen like)
Edinburgh (can't get more spectacular than that, that's for sure)
Bristol (again so exciting and colourful)
London Islington (miss the cafes and PUBS WITH TABLES OUTSIDE...)
SYDENHAM! - great now, even greater in a few years' time, you'll see.

Re: 5 year anniversary
Prince Arthur Road (squalid but exciting flatshare when I first moved to London - but I suspect I may have left most of my belongings with my parents in Leicester); then, after I got married, Lisburn Road, towards Gospel Oak, just south of Parliament Hill Fields. Moved south of the river in 1976 when our first daughter was one and we needed somewhere bigger. Never looked back!leenewham wrote: Hampstead (where were you Robin? I was in Shirlock Road).
Re: 5 year anniversary
I bought my first place here in June 2011.
Before that, I was going round London anti-clockwise, renting in Fulham, then Clapham and then Camberwell.
Before that, Almeria in Spain for nearly 9 years. And before that, Northamptonshire.
