Still puzzled about that. Surely they all have multiple garages and large drives. It is the premier road in SE26.
Why would they need to park elsewhere.

Maybe they're hiding their flash, expensive cars from the bailiffs!

Just because a car may be clamped does not answer the question of the legality.
If they act illegally could be prosecuted.

Cars would not be clamped -yes the law has changed, but there is the issue of social responsibility no? Cars can be ticketed as a civil offence, but if you didn't pay it isn't enforceable. You may get this commented on in your credit history mind. I suppose people who don't care about endangering other's safety aren't going to bother about that though.

Regardless of whoever it was who dumped the rubbish a big WELL DONE to LondonCalling for taking the initiative and ringing the council. Otherwise, who knows how long those full bins would have been left there... It's local individuals like LondonCalling that deserve a big pat on the back for taking responsibility for their local surroundings. If only more people were like that.

Now the mystery is where did those bins come from?

Well we had at one bin stolen a few weeks ago (seems the thieves round here have lack ambition ).

What we have not had is a explanation from a resident of this elite Drive as to why they park their cars outside Annie's house , not in Hall Drive.
This is especially bad if you convert your garage to living space then decide you can infest other less fortunate roads.

Eagle,I have no problem as such , about them parking in my road, there is space, but what I have always said is why park outside residents houses when there is plenty of room over the road? That's what gets me! I don't understand the mindset, I once politely ask a man if he would move back a foot so we could get our car in as well,he was extremely rude, in fact I would love him to be reading this and hopefully he will feel ashamed at his conduct, he very loudly told me he could park anywhere he liked, to which I agreed,but asked him as a neighbour to be considerate and allow us to also use the parking available,to which he refused, he left his car there for 3 days.now before any idiot comes back and says "so what he's entitled to park where he likes" I do already know this fact! Thanks!
But this is part of how London is now, inconsiderate people just looking after no 1, this I find sad, and it is the attitudes of certain people which I for one want to escape from.

Just interested how residents of this exclusive Drive justify no parking in their drive ( even one side ) , but allow the residents to park elsewhere.

I suggest neighbouring roads take out CPZ's.

I must admit,I thought Cpzs might be a good idea, then, I got confused because I think I read somewhere that if you have a Cpzs pass it covers all of Lewisham? Or am I wrong?

I believe CPZ's refer to specific small areas and certainly not for the whole borough.

For instance if your road alone was covered only then residents of your road would be able to join the scheme.
You will see the back of Hall Drive.

We seem to have concluded their threat to clamp now has NO legal basis and would lay the residents open to prosecution.

The CPZ's don't cover the whole bouough but they do cover pretty wide areas, for axample when I was living in Maida Vale I could drive to work in Marlybone and park and was still covered. This would be like me being able to park anywhere in sydenham and possibly parts of surrounding areas.

In my experience they don't really solve problems such as these where people on neighbouring roads who choose to park on yours. Its just the council trying to get you to pay for what you have now for free.

Out of interest can someone confirm or otherwise that private car clamping now illegal.

s.54 of the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012 which came into force in October:

(1)A person commits an offence who, without lawful authority— .
(a)immobilises a motor vehicle by the attachment to the vehicle, or a part of it, of an immobilising device,

The express or implied consent (whether or not legally binding) of a person otherwise entitled to remove the vehicle to the immobilisation, movement or restriction concerned is not lawful authority for the purposes of subsection (1).

Yes it does apply on a private road and if you read the notices on Hall Drive they no longer mention clamping and comply with the law. I don't know why you have got it in for ALL residents of said road because of one rude resident. Parking seems to bring out the worst in people if it was up to me I'd get rid of all cars (apart from mine)

Why wouldn't you park outside your own abode?

Call me suspicious but most of the reasons that spring to mind would involve avoiding /
evading or hiding something. I've probably been watching too many detective spoofs!

Why are they NOT parking in their own road. Could not park either side but room for a car one side.

These are legitimate and just questions which no one from Hall Drive has answered.

My car tax acts as a parking permit on any street that A) doesn't have a yellow line of any kind and B) isn't already parked in. C) isn't a private road.

I think because someone has parked outside of your house is just one of those things and might mean you'll have to take a few more walking steps to your front door.
