A "collision"? I wonder how fast the fence was going?

I was surprised to see a near duplicate article in The Sun today and I was a bit infuriated with this article - all I'm hearing is Money money money £££!

This is the worst part of the article "Ms Lee is now looking for legal help, claiming police treated her mum in an offhand way, not apologising for the accident and leaving the garden unsecured for three days.

If you can help Maxine Lee, call her on 020 8641 1146."

To be honest the tongue in cheek part of this story is lady who lives in this house who (unfortunately) had the fence smashed in was out of the house that night.

When I was observing the police clear up the lady did not appear and the neighbours called the daughter to the house to check the lady's dog was ok.

So unless she has great hearing and heard the bang from wherever she was then she is lying!

Also I saw her the other day when i was walking past bossing a few people around from Skanska so her usual cheery nature is not destroyed

My sympathies are more with Bensonby on this one, even though I think I have many typical liberal attitudes towards the police. Sure there are plenty of times when the police seem less than ideal, and the highly publicised cases where they to cover up their own wrong-doings are disturbing. But they do generally keep our streets safe, and our property secure, and I can well believe that confronting that guy in Elsinore Road was pretty stressful.

It's another one of these cases where attitudes get polarised; liberals like me think more about the need for the police to be accountable (and not too expensive), and feel uncomfortable with the old-fashioned 'canteen-culture', and we pick on police failings and forget their courage and professionalism. On the other side, conservatives admire these qualities, and unreasonably dismiss liberal concerns. If liberals can unequivocally thank the police for the good work they do, it will make it easier for the police to accept reasonable outside criticisms and any reforms they should lead to.

I think the clue as to a potential *Injury Lawyers 4U" claim was contained in the article I Iinked:- "It wrecked the garden completely. When she saw it was a police car she thought her dog was underneath it" (although it obviously wasn't). Stuff any officers who happened to be in the car at the time it overturned, as long as the pooch was OK.

The ambulance chasing lawyers are parasites. In most cases accidents are as the word implies or used to imply , no one is to blame.

A few years ago broke my wrist an inundated with requests to put claim in. I refused. There was small hole in the road ( Mayow ) that tripped me up , but I had not be paying due attention.

Take responsibility for ones own actions.

Well surprise surprise, the Met are about to be sued!

http://www.newsshopper.co.uk/news/lewis ... nightmare/

:-The family have struggled since the accident to find a lawyer who will take up the case, saying they have been denied legal aid because of upcoming cutbacks to where it can be allocated - with personal injury claims no longer receiving the money.

But they have now secured a lawyer who will represent the family on a 'no win no fee' basis.
Ms Lee said: "I consider that my mum's plight is a matter of major public concern."-:

It surely would be more of a "major public concern" if taxpayers money were ever to be wasted pursuing such ridiculous claims as this one.

Whilst I sympathise with the good lady and her flashbacks I detest no win no fee lawyers.

Seems to me she has a medical problem. How would this be solved by a legal case. That just passes me by.

Very sad.

Possible the Police were going faster that required , that I do not know. But an apology if that is the case should be good.

I see the police officer involved in this incident has admitted driving without due care and attention. He was given 3 penalty points and a fine. He is also no longer driving a police car while awaiting a misconduct review by the Met.

Here the link: http://www.newsshopper.co.uk/news/10682 ... den_smash/

Once again we find that a proper understanding of the incident in a court of law is a better judge of a situation regarding police conduct (or that of most similar incidents) than speculation on a forum.
