Incidents on Wed 18 April Jews Walk and Kirkdale

Post by gillyjp »

Does anyone know what happened tonight in Jews Walk/Kirkdale area? - we went for a walk about 6.45pm and there were armed police on the corner of Jews Walk and Kirkdale. They were not allowing cars down Jews Walk and we saw at least two armed police officers standing guard.

When we came back at about 8.45pm another unrelated incident had ocurred just after the crossing on Kirkdale. At least 3 ambulances in attendance plus a man lying in the road having been put in a neck brace. Kirkdale had been completely cordoned off for traffic.

Can anyone enlighten us as to what had happened?

I think the TV detector van spotted a house that had not renewed their TV licence and called for reforcements  whilst not so far from the same location you can buy drugs quite easily without any bother from the authorities

I don't know but there was a hive of activity around the area at the same time. I was driving over to my mum and dad's in South Norwood at around 5pm and there was a police car on Whittell Gardens (just up from Kirkdale), another on Jews Walk closely folowed by an ambulance. Then Anerley Hill was closed off by police, and also South Norwood Hill.

When I made my way home South Norwood Hill was still closed off but I avoided all other routes on the way home so don't know how they were affected.

A coincidence? Seems like an awful lot going on in the same area. Not a mention of it in the news...

Again unable to shed any light but Kirkdale remained closed by a police car parked across the road at 11.30pm.

I asked the police as we were allowed to walk past the cordon at about 11pm - there was a serious road accident earlier in the evening. I assume that means someone was hurt badly. There was still stuff lying in the road.
