Hi
I thought the forum might be interested in this new website which provides an easy way of reporting issues to your local council. Because you can search by postcode it shows all of the other problems people are reporting in your locality. Incidentally, I came across this on the BBC news website.

Hi JoeP
Thanks for flagging up the site. To be honest, no matter what you report to Lewisham Council, you can guarantee they'll ignore you. I've reported the flytipping on Homecroft Rd on numerous occasions - it's cleared eventually - but they don't take steps to stop it happening again - or try to catch the vermin that dump it there.
They're clearly far happier to waste our concil tax clearing rubbish than tackling the problem in the first place.

No - you can't guarantee anything with Lewisham Council.Wispy Wonder wrote:To be honest, no matter what you report to Lewisham Council, you can guarantee they'll ignore you.
We had a dreadful mess of overloaded bins in a cesspit of rubbish blocking the pavement here when the tenants from the local flats did another runner. It was Saturday morning and a community Police Officer was walking down the road. Have a word with 'Environment' I pleaded. Within 2 hours a Lewisham lorry plus squad cleared it in trice. Tried to thank them but my Polish/Romanian wasn't up to it

Hi W.Wonder
I agree that the council aren't responsive enough but the idea of the website is to make complaints transparent and if it builds up enough momentum and traffic then you have evidence of their lack of action and can escalate it. I notice that if you contact them via the website they respond promptly but seem to ignore any subsequent emails. We can use the website to shame them into action.
