Re Masaniello Italian Restaurant

I agree G-Man, been there once and it was nice enough but feel like they should now make an effort to sort the front of building out.

I've only very recently tried this restaurant out and wish I had done it before.
I agree the furnishings, fittings and ambience may not be smart or sophisticated; you wouldn't go to this restaurant if the soft furnishings are not to your taste or only eat your dinners in one of the restaurants at the Dorchester. This is a REAL italian pizzeria, from the south of Italy, to be more precise. People go there with their families and friends to enjoy some good honest food and each others company, baring in mind that over there everybody can cook amazing food at home.
The pizza dough they make at Re Masaniello is soft and bready and the fresh toppings complement it to perfection. Their homemade bread reminds me of my grandmothers rustic loaves. The owners children eating in the restaurant is reassuring. The staff was attentive but basically left us alone to enjoy our food. Again this uncomplicated and relaxed approach is so very southern italian.
I went there because I was home sick and so wanted to find some decent pizza without having to travel for miles in London and really could not face eating a ketchup topped pizza from any of the other pizza take away outlets in our area. I did try La Trattoria for pizza last year but their pizza is not as good. It has obviously been slightly adjusted more to the british taste. Having said that, I am sure there are enough pizza lovers in se26 to support both restaurants. Or so I hope.

Sounds good. I still won't go until they get rid of those horrible old green canopies on the out side. They just make the whole building look tired and shocking. So I'm making my own little stand.
Do they read this forum I wonder?!?

I went there with a friend a few weeks back and the food was really good. Much more authentic dishes than the usual pasta smothered in thick sauce I've had in the past at other Italian places. The specials menu had a nice selection and since I've given up eating meat, was pleased to be able to choose from some nice vegetarian based dishes.
But also agree that the interior is pretty poor, especially with the internal Spanish styled roof over the bar bit, kept on from its mexican days, made me chuckle.
Feels like they had to keep to a budget, hence the interior not getting redone, but the pizza over looks impressive roaring away in the corner.
