toddler activities in Sydenham Hill area?

Post by kirstie »

Hi - wondered if I could pick the brains of people with small children? We moved from Thicket Road (Penge) to Crescent Wood Road (just off Sydenham Hill) last June, just after 2nd child born and I stayed in my comfort zone doing the same old activities which tended to be Anerley,Beckenham and 1 oclock club.

Now my oldest is in preschool and things have calmed down a bit, I would really like to meet local mums and not necessarily drive everywhere. :o) Saw a posting that said there is a toddler group on Coombe road on Wednesday mornings, very excited by something local!

Does anyone know of anything else in this area?

Thanks

There's a one o'clock club in Crystal Palace Park as well, just by the Sydenham entrance at the end of Sydenham Avenue.

And a mother/ preschoolers drop in at the Grove Centre in Jews Walk - I don't know which day I'm afraid but the office staff are very friendly!

And a mother/ pre-school group on Tuesday and Friday mornings at the Phoenix Centre next to Sainsbury's in Crystal Palace; also on different days at the Salvation Army Centre on Westow Street, just past Blockbusters.

Another idea is the weekly pre-schoolers' reading sessions at all the borough libraries, including Forest Hill Library - you'd need to ask them which day it is, but it's free.

If I remember any others, I'll come back to you.

Hi Kirstie

You also might like to try the various free activities at the Horniman Museum. On Friday mornings there's 2 or 3 storytelling / sing-along sessions in the African Worlds gallery which is very well attended; looks like the same mums go every week so you're bound to bump into the same people. And in the basement there's the new Aquarium which is also v popular with toddlers.

Sadly due to the moneygrabbing parish county council and their 400% rent increase that particular parent and toddler group has had to close

Hope you find another good group to go to!
