more muggings Sydenham Hill

Post by Seb »

Following my topic regarding the mugging of my partner three weeks ago, I don't know if anyone has noticed that a notice was put at the bottom of the lane leading to Crescent Wood Road opposite Sydenham Hill station, saying that two people got mugged on monday 5th between 7pm and 10pm...they are advising people against going up the hill at dark....humm shall we fly to the top of the hill then?
Joke apart, I just thought that I would warn anyone using this way at dark.

It's a pity that Charles Bronson (Death Wish) is not about!

I find it appalling how the police imply the victim is to blame for daring to walk about after dark. It's like those posters at the station that tell you to keep your phone and other valuables out of sight.

It makes me angry when people suggest that the best way to tackle this problem is to avoid walking that way from the station (not that there's a choice for some people).
MORE people should be encouraged to walk up that way, not fewer. If there were more people walking up there then it would be less likely that anyone would get mugged.
Usually when I get off the train there are at least a few people going up the hill so I don't feel unsafe and its very rare that I am the only person walking up, but I worry that these posters do more harm than good if they put people off walking that way. DON'T LET THE CRIMINALS WIN.

Or you could take David Camerons advice and 'Hug a Hoodie'

I am sorry to make a joke of this subject as it is quite frightening for some people......but this man is really a joke!
God help us if he ever gets in.
