Shotokan Karate club, Sydenham Hill
I was a pupil here from 97-99, but had to quit due to work. I had some really great times here during those 2 years. I went 6 belts up to Purple Belt, and could also perform some of the 1st and 2nd dan Katas (forms). We used to take the odd lesson inside Kelvin Grove School when the Sydenham Hill hall wasn't available, and our gradings would take place in none other than my old Secondary School (Crofton Park; Brockley) supervised/judged by 8th Dan Sensei Enoeda! I was so good I even double-graded once!! I checked by the other day and noticed Don is still teaching there--he must be aged about 57 now--I'm thinking of going back there sometime when I've revised all the katas and forms... If anyone is interested in keeping fit, I recommend paying a visit... perhaps there is already one or more members among us who are also members of the Karate club now, or were in the past? If so, I'd be interested to hear about your experience...
