Christmas lights turn on in Penge

Post by panmum »

To celebrate switching on the Christmas lights on Saturday 4th December Penge High Street and Maple Road will play host to some fantastic School groups, dancers as well as singers, plus impromptu performance from many other local talented musicians, and the Endurance Steel Orchestra who will be performing near Twang Guitars, the wonderful guitar shop just on the corner of Maple Road and the High Street. There will be kiddies fun rides and a roller disco on Maple Road, and the Crooked Billet Pub will be looking after Father Christmas in his Grotto there, there will be a magician too, he should be found in BKS Solicitors, keeping nice and warm! Lots of traders will be giving away free tasters of food and drink, and come and see us at Endurance for a candy cane or some chocolate coins!Grand finale is at 4.15 with Fireworks!!

Sounds fun. St John’s Church which is just up from Maple Road and right by the Crooked Billet is also having its Christmas craft fair that day from 1pm until 4pm so given the weather if people need to have a quick thaw in between other entertainment and before the fireworks they should pop in as there'll be a cafe serving various hot drinks, home made cakes, mince pies etc, free childrens entertainment, choir, street dance, Wii competition, professional photographer, facepainting and lots of opportunities to fit in some Christmas shopping.
