Letting Agent refusing to remove 'let by' board - advice!

Post by Tinksqueak »

I live in a flat in a converted property and am having trouble with a lettings agent refusing to remove their 'Let and Managed By' board from our shared front garden. Has anyone else had the same problem or can offer advice?

It was put up over 4 months ago and has recently fallen down into the garden so I thought it was about time they took it away and stopped littering/using a shared garden for advertising without permission. On phoning to ask them to do so (very politely!) I was told that they'd only remove it on the request of the owner of the flat they've let.

Has anyone else had a similar experience? I've done a bit of research and it appears that 'let by' or 'sold' signs should only be left up for 14 days after the property is off the market. Are they exploiting a loophole by saying 'let and managed'? Would the council enforce this and if so what department (I'm Bromley, not Lewisham)?

Thanks!

If it has just fallen down why not hide it , or put it aside for Nov 5th.

I cannot see what right they have to impose their advertising on you. Even if other flat wants it is your garden as well.

I would not bother with the Council.

Check your lease. They are specifically prohibited in the lease for our flats.

Which letting agent was it?

Why not take it and give it to them in their office.
