I don't think it's a question of having a crystal ball or taking cheap shots, it's just being a bit flexible. I think some of the postings - on both sides - have been a bit inflammatory but it's a legitimate debate.
If we get more than enough people turning up (and god we've been hoping to get some more interest ever since this started) then it's a simple phone call to change the pitch if we can.

I'm sure if the honourable Mr. L hasn't got the time/isn't prepared to do it then someone else would volunteer - think Phil did actually a few weeks back...

Alternatively we book up a load well in advance (5-a-side pitch) and then try and swap over, as and when we get the numbers.

I don't know about inflammatory, I think we were having a frank and honest exchange of views.

Lem is correct in what he writes. He puts enough effort in chasing people up and it certainly doesn't go un-noticed nor un-appreciated here. But 12/13 on a 5s pitch isn't much fun, as we found the other night with 13. There were people playing on the 7s when we arrived so it may be that it was already taken...

At any rate. I'd be willing to do a stint as gaffer. If it's not too unpopular a choice!? Just let me know if I'm needed. Id' be happy to continue the status quo - no £6 fine for non-attendes as I've previously threatened!

I think it's clear that Lem is fed up doing it and I don't blame him.

I'd be very grateful if someone else was to take it on. TBH I was only doing it because nobody else stepped forward when Marathon retired as manager.

Donny has already agreed to take over in a couple of weeks' time, but if others are keen (or at least willing!) to take over then he may well be happy to stand aside.

I can step aside - I already run two sunday teams and only offered as Lem (I now know why they call you that!) has served us so well and needs a break to concentrate on his goal scoring/staying on his feet

I'm not around the next couple of weeks so Ulysses over to you...

Would you mind just doing this last week Lem? Then I'll take over the mantle for a time.

Or if you really cannot bear it let me know and I'll sort out Weds 9th.

Forgot to mention we sort of made it into print lads...

A bit of artisitic license regarding the goal - not sure I've ever scored one like that - perhaps I should have written about my volley on the turn as it dropped out of the air!?

Cheers, Ulysses. No problem to do it for one more week! I can hand the money over to you on Wednesday 9 June.

I'm happy to remain in charge of bibs, ball and gloves.

"Every now and then though - mainly as the other lads tire - I'll go on a mazy run a la Maradona in '86..." LMAO.
Fair play Ulysses, you are actually quite handy but you do tend to tackle like Harald Schumacher. ; )

I'm in for Wednesday. I'll try not to be so greedy second time out, but can't make any promises - that's what happens when you let a keeper out of his area I'm afraid.

I'm pleased to say that we already have the minimum twelve players required for the seven-a-side pitch, so it's booked for 8:30pm on Wednesday. (Incidentally, 8pm kick off was not available.)

Final cost per person will depend on the number of people who confirm, but it will be between £6 and £7.

In so far:
1. biscuitman1978
2. Marathon
3. Swartie
4. Joe P
5. Ulysses
6. cyclesteve
7. bazwaldo
8. droidathon
9. parklife
10. nick
11. Chazza
12. Tarbs (confirmed by text)

Any more?

Talking about Ulysses posting on footy365.com, thought the Sydders crowd might like to see my online claim to fame.

I wouldn't like to speak out of turn as I'm not the gaffer until as of next week but please come along SB. I'm sure the pitch is more than big enough to handle a game of 8-a-side and it makes sense not to have uneven numbers?

This way we won't have to faff about with subs as we would were we 15.

Agreed!

This feels like one of those joint manager arrangements: Curbishley/Gritt (Charlton Athletic), Evans/Houllier (Liverpool)... Any more? A discussion for the bar, I think.
