Are there any more pointless than this, 157 Silverdale?

I've lived just by for ten years now, and never been told anything about a Neighbourhood Watch scheme. I'll be inviting my local councillors to comment on this here, and the local Safer Neighbourhoods team, but I'd also be interested in any more such.
Dunno about Silverdale but there was a very active Neighbourhood (Narborhood) Watch here in Lawrie Park in 1985 run by the redoubtable Norman McCann. I know that because he spotted us suspiciously entering our new home for the first time with the rozzers rolling up a few minutes later to check our credentials.
It faded shortly after. Do the Silverdale signs look 25 years old?
I think it was in broad daylight, since some coming round to my place at mid day mentioned they'd just seen it happen. But I suspect it went unreported!

I think the sign is probably about fifteen years old, since it has the meercats on it, and from my involvement in a scheme where I lived in Peckham, I think that's when they were brought in.

My street in West Greenwich where I lived previously was a neighbourhood watch area and besides getting a bit off your insurance premium each year I couldn't see the point.
Vigilance and common sense reactions to odd behaviour shouldn't need a scheme or sign.

I'm not really sure, I believe it comes down to changing priorities and the breadth of local efforts and support.
I do believe that similar schemes are being rolled out again on some levels in some places.....
As Tim suggested, if interested then get in touch with the SNT. I do know of some active and successful NW schemes still in existance.
