Sugahill Cafe

Post by Savvygirl »

This is such a nice little cafe at Cobbs Corner and the sandwiches and paninis are delicious - there is such a variety too. It's also an art gallery where local artists put work up for sale. There's some nice stuff in there at the moment - it's worth a browse over a cup of coffee.

Not sure about spam! You can always ask - you're not a Monty Python fan by any chanece?

Looking at the number of posts from the first two contributors, I know where you are coming from Digime2007.

To be fair if it does happen to be a bit of touting for trade then at least it's a better effort than the memorable post from that horrid 'Chef's Delight' place...

Not sure if this will template correctly.

Oh dear, can't a person recommend a place without someone taking such a cynical view on things. I can see ALIB that you're probably quite a confrontational person and I have noticed that you seem to be all over this forum one way or another. I had a little joke about spam on my second post, so where are you coming from? Are you officially policing this site or are you some self-appointed guardian of the forum? I think Sugahill is a nice place to go, that's all.

Hey, I love spam. Wouldn't dream of knocking it.

I also like Sugarhill (they could try and finish their website though).

Savvygirl managed to restrain herself for a full 5 days from joining before coming out of the shadows.

grumble2me loves Sugarhill so much they couldn't resist joining and commenting the same day.

I am quite literally nearly moved by the love in this room (smilie face!).

I'm about to go back into the shadows! I've just realised that there's a band of three people who spar regularly with each other on this forum and turn genuine posts into a bit of a knock-about contest. Don't have to name names as I'm sure to regular users it is obvious, but the bottom line is that none of them can be taken that seriously!!

I think there is a problem with the 'regulars' on this forum being too suspicious, not exactly welcoming for new people is it? The Sugarhill has been here for ages so why would they suddenly start doing this, plus there are several threads recommending them. Anyway I think it's a great cafe with friendly staff.

Savvygirl, try & ignore it & continue to post, you'll realise soon enough this happens on a regular basis for people with only a few posts as it's very easy to create new logins.

A local forum for local people then?

Thanks Ronski - glad to see that normal uncomplicated people use this forum too!! I'm not too bothered about these jerks, but I've noticed before that the likes of these jokers can take over a thread and turn it into a kind of slanging match. I've now realised how easy it is to get caught up in it - not my thing really. I may pop up from time to time but thankfully I have quite a full life.

Busy making coffee by any chance?

Don't take the posts here so personally. We mean you no harm. It's just a bit of fun.

All internet forums basically descend into a core group of people arguing. I don't like that but accept it. Don't let it put you off posting.

I'm sure we'll be glad to hear your views on other local businesses and local matters. Hey, you could even start a petition to oppose some new development. People around here love that. You'll fit in just fine.

Besides the more you post the more genuine your recommendations will appear. You can't blame people for jumping to conclusions when you and that 'grumble' character post glowing recommendations with your first posts immediately after joining.

Now, what do you think of Blue Mountain?

It is also December. As Admin I watch the year's cycle and as the nights draw in so does humour and temper. Its a sad thing but the friendly freewheeling attitudes of summer give way to dark suspicion and offence. And not only with me!

So lighten up everybody. The first posts looked like spam. First posters may not realise that and the likely reaction. And we do get enormous loads of it, mostly stopped before it is published and some immediately after posting (see log in Town Asylum).

I left the posts in because anybody who has been to Sugahill knows the accolades were justified so it didn't matter whether it was genuine or not. I hope my knowing wink didn't contribute to anything. My apologies if it did.

So go smell the coffee. Enjoy. And lay off personal attacks here. Town Cafe and Sugahill are both places for friendly discussion. Remember Town Pub is the place to go and spoil for a fight - but only between consenting adults please.
