I see this is being transformed into a dry cleaners. I suppose the competition from Kente and other cafes has caused this.
I'm not sure if the same people are going to run the dry cleaners but I did see a guy starting to put a sign above the shop front and he was manhandling a letter "A" from the old Milano sign. So I guess the dry cleaners will be called an anagram of the cafe.
Milano cafe
The same enterprising family will run the new business. From what I understand it will be a complete cleaning service, not "just another" dry cleaners. Ironing, collection, cleaning agency, etc.
I wish them the best of luck - they transformed their clothes shop into a cafe (the first non-Greasy Spoon cafe in Sydenham), and now into a laundry service. It's good that they can be adaptable in this changing economy and environment. It was obvious to them that they could not compete with Kente, Blue Mountain and Sugahill - their size and position wouldn't allow it.
Isn't it refreshing that instead of leaving Sydenham, they're trying a new venture?

I'm not sure that this really works in this case, given that there are already a number of dry cleaners. Perhaps someone with a better understanding of economics can explain!
They've only used the "A" for A* Star Cleaners.
I used to pop in for the occasional smoked slamon and cream cheese bagel, but they were cheaper in Kente and just as nice.
Their problem was the lack of floor space, which meant they were over reliant on the takeaway trade, which already had over supply on the High Street.
I wish them luck but they will really have to work on the offering/price to compete with the established competition.

They have made the place look ok and it's great that they have seen to invest locally. I went to the cafe a couple of times but their English Breakfast was swimming in grease so I never went back. They were really friendly though.
It's just a shame that instead of being the 4th cafe, they became the 4th dry cleaners!
