In this instance, if the original poster hadn't posted anything, I would never have even heard of this open day, never seen these pictures.
Not true Lee, unless you've not been reading your Sydenham Society enewsletters, in which I mentioned this twice in the weeks before! On the other hand, I guess Sean has done a service in getting discussion going on this and also in promoting the next local NSPCC Open Day at Kent House Leisure Gardens, Sept 6th ... which will also be in the SydSoc enewsletter, and where you can admire my kiwis - http://www.khlga.com/

How uncharitable Sean:

I missed the Cator open gardens this year but did visit one on the their last open day. I certainly did not begrudge the entrance fee but the visit did leave me with the feeling that somehow an opportunity had been missed.

I find some of the smaller front gardens in Tannsfield Rd and Venner Road more interesting

I attach a photo of my own small garden just to illustrate what I consider to be exciting.

(photo removed as I inadvertantly included a link to my facebook site)

As a flat dweller and prospective house owner I think these gardens look delightful. I missed this event this year but will endeavour to make it next time.

Welcome to STF!

You're own garden is of course quite interesting, but like mine, it just doesn't have the space to have money raising numbers of people milling around in it - which the Cator Road gardens do.

Now here's an idea. Part of the Sydenham Arts Festival this year was an Arts trail. How about a garden trail featuring a number of smaller but nonetheless interesting gardens?

Ah! Sorry Tim, I missed your posts about the gardens.

It does highlight though how a little controversy gets you noticed and gets people talking!

Good idea about the gardens though. That's my task for next year after having spent most of the last year doing up the inside of the house.
