chinese medicine

Post by charlie »

has anybody used the chinese medicine place on sydenham road? i was thinking of going to see them about my eczema, since conventional doctors seem clueless.
from the outside the place doesn't look too inviting, but they've been there for years so i guess they're doing something right. if anyone's had any luck with them, or otherwise, i'd love to know.
thanks!

A word of warning...some of these places can be dodgy so you need to know exactly what they are giving you (in English) and look it up on Google before taking it. I know of a few people who have been given some very dangerous ingredients as part of a treatment for psoriasis that are known to casue liver and kidney failure.

I'm not for a moment suggesting that this particular shop would do this but as this industry is unregulated you need to be pretty sure what you take is safe.

Saying all that, I succesfully treated psoriasis with Chinese medicine even though I had to boil up what looked like scrapings from a forest floor and drink it 3 times a day. It didn't taste good....

thanks for those replies. point taken. i'll be careful, but quite frankly it's hard to see how they could be any more useless than the various doctors i've been going to over the years.
i was just curious about that shop in particular, since i don't think i've ever seen anyone go in or out...

From Wikipedia on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traditiona ... ne#History
The term "TCM" describes the modern practice of Chinese medicine as a result of sweeping reforms that took place after 1950 in the People's Republic of China.
So expect it to work on the human body like Maoism worked on the body politic.

A friend of mine uses an acupuncturist to successfully treat his eczema (and eliminates certain foods from his diet)
His Chinese acupuncturist also practices as a herbalist, although my friend does not use chinese herbs
Friend's acupuncturist is in Watford, but you can easily find an acupuncturist locally
Good luck

My wife went there for acupunture and was not unhappy with it. The only thing is that the Doctor doesn't speak much English so communication is hampered. It is quite cheap.
