SA Festival Next Year?
SA Festival Next Year?
I attended several of the events and enjoyed them a great deal, especially Amaretti Angels in the Italian restaurant. All seemed quite well attended and I wondered if someone in the know woudl be able to tell us if the whole festival was well attended, and most importantly- are we going to get another next year!?
Numbers attending vitually every event were extremely high. For example, Amaretti Angels which you mention Richie, was sold out well in advance of the start of the festival and a further perfomance had to be scheduled on Sunday lunchtime. Other events such as French Songs and Berlin Cabaret were full and had to close their doors with people waiting outside. Jonathan K deserves a medal for presenting such a wide variety of events of such high quality. If anyone can tell me of a single event that wasn't very well supported and well worth while I'd like to hear what it was.
Those running the festival need to sit down and assess the events of the last ten days thoroughly. But I think that there would be a riot if it didn't happen again next year and I am sure that the organisers will come to the same conclusion. The difficult bit is how on earth you make year two as good as year one.

I concur. Everything I attended was packed out, including the poetry and the comedy at the Golden Lion.
I think the whole event went very well considering it was the first year and I also think it showed there is demand in Sydenham for many more cultural events then are currently offered.
I would hope that the festival can build on the last 10 days and become a regular feature of South East London's cultural life.
Well done to all involved!

I also wish to congratulate all of those who organised and participated in the festival. It was a real bonus for the borough and the local area. I visited a number of the open art studios over both weekends, all very inspiring, especially in the knowledge they are all local people. I already know other people who wish to take part in exhibiting next year, so i hope it will come around again. Thanks
