Seats on trains

I'm starting a new job this Wednesday that requires me to commute into London Bridge each morning so I was wondering which train is most likely to have available seats: 7:40, 7:45, 7:53, or 7:57?

From my experience when I have got those trains I've always got a seat. You should be fine.

yeah be thankful you do not live in Brockley - there are hardly ever seats by the time the train gets there

You should generally find that there are more seats at the back of the train, so there's less of a scrum to get the remaining ones.

Yep, you should get a seat on any of those on a 'normal' day. 8:08 on the other hand tends to be busier.

However, whatever time you travel it's pretty rare to get a train coming into Syd. in the morning that has no seats available - sometimes if you're one of the last people to get in the carriage you might find yourself unlucky, but generally I'd say at the moment Syd is the optimum place on the line for trading off getting a seat vs. short commute times.

I used to live at Forest Hill and I had to be much cannier to get a seat there (chosing the right carriage and knowing where to stand on the platform to be in front of the doors). In Syd it's positively relaxed by comparison. And yes, perish the thought of living in Brockley!
