Race For Life Crystal Palace Park

Post by KateM »

Hi

I am running the 5k Race For Life in Crystal Palace Park on 12th of June.

I'm starting to get worried and I am being a total wimp!

Does anyone know the route. Or how many times round the park we have to run?!!!

Good for you, Kate. We'll be out in support. How's the training going?

I'm doing the Crystal Palace Race for Life as well. I am not sure if it's laps around the park or exactly the route, but just try to measure out 5k and practice running it. Don't worry too much about it, I'm not a runner myself and only recently started training. I did the london city one last year with no training at all and even though I did a walk/run, I completed it in 42 minutes.

Good Luck :)

thanks for the encouragement!

I would like to run the whole thing so I have been running a few times a week but at the moment I have to stop quite alot to walk and I think I only do 2.5k!

Crystal Palace Park is really steep in places - that's why I wondered if anyone knew the route - it would be great if it avoided the steep incline to the maze area etc! But I doubt it...

KateM, you must be really worried to be gaining a 2 day head start on the rest of the field. The actual race day is Sunday 14th June with an 11am start. :D

Hi Kate

Good luck for the race. I did the 10k which might be the same route?. But it was at least a couple of years ago and I don't know if the route will be the same.
I can't remember it exactly but I know it started in the stadium, then it went round the back of the jubilee stand along the path with the dinosaur bit on your right, then along past the kids playground and that 'bell thing' (don't know what to call it!) and then up to the terraces (sorry), along that and then I think we went back in reverse along the terrace, back down the same way and into the stadium, once around the stadium and then did it all again then back into the stadium to finish.
So the 5k would presumably be just the once round, unless they have a different route altogether.

Anyway - BEST OF LUCK!!! Have fun.

How was it Kate?

I thought it was lovely although some of the uphill parts were tough going on the legs!

Hope it went well, Kate. Perhaps I'll see you in the morning at school.

Good night.

I really enjoyed it thanks! Would highly recommend it to any of the Sydenham Town ladies for next year.

Juwlz has done the marathon so she must think I'm a right wimp!
