Roundabout by the Greyhound

Post by bencooke »

Why can't it be landscaped with some plants and that and why doesn't the streetcleaner get rid of the naffing cones off of it!

Just to let everyone know that there are some gas mains under the roundabout that prevent the Council from planting trees. The good news is that the roundabout will be "green" when the transport scheme starts - hopefully at the start of 2010. I am sure everyone is aware of the work being carried by the utility companies - Thames Water are currently working on their programme outlined below

8th June - 21st June - Phase 3 - No lights but Westwood Hill will be closed coming towards Sydenham and Kirkdale will be closed going away from Cobbs Corner roundabout, diversions in place.

22nd June until 5th July - Phase 4 - Kirkdale will be closed coming into Sydenham, diversions in place.

Thames Water have provided the details of their customer liaison officer - Monica Kumah on 07747646287 -Monica.Kumah@thameswater.co.uk - if you want more information on the current work.

Proposed granite roundabout

Post by Richard Costa »

Lewsham's "renewed high street for Sydenham" leaflet talks about a granite roundabout.

http://www.sydenham.org.uk/Sydenham_consult_leaflet.pdf

This material is great, but pointless if the plan is to replace the current work of art with a similar one. Can anyone confirm whether the plan is for a granite ring with grass in the middle?

The roundabout will be green - and the Council is going to hold an exhibition is the high street very soon so ideas for the greenery will be most welcome. I will let you know when as officers are still working with the commercial agents on a suitable shop front - and at the right price for a very short lease!
