5-a-side footie
the pitch is booked for an hour. There may be an option to get hold of another pitch if we attract a lot of people. However, this is a 'starter match' so if we have enough people, perhaps it can become more regular during the summer weather and we can get as many pitches as we need.
Bensonby, i don't know about changing facilities. It's probably best to come along in tracksuit bottoms (or similar) and t-shirt. If you forget your games kit we may have to force you to compete in your underwear (assuming you don't go commando)
There may be a few slight teething problems, but even in the worst case scenario, everyone should get at least 20 minutes on the pitch and this will pave the way for future bookings.
And of course socialising and the beers afterwards...

With regards to teams and shirts it might be worth people bring a red and a blue shirt to help separate sides.ALIB wrote:
Right , it's all booked. 3pm kick off on Sunday May 10th (please turn up 15 minutes before kick off). Total cost of £41.50
We can 'rent' a football from the centre or bring our own. I'll have a think about shirt colours, or getting flourescent sashes to help distinguish sides.

Everyone welcome and a few beers afterwards would be good.

Hi all - I'll be there with at least plus one. The only problem being that I sprained my ankle on Sunday (bizarre gardening accident, although I in in ruder health than John "Stumpy" Pepys!). If I can play I will, but I have already consigned myself to being a spectator on Sunday. I'll be on hand with the magic sponge though to soothe knocks/split finger nails etc.
I am somewhat suffering this morning. I think yesterday served to reinforce just how unfit i am. Making this a regular thing seems like a good idea. The general concensus was that a weekday evening may be a good idea.
Therefore the next proposed match is going to be Wednesday 20th at 8pm. Please post if you fancy coming along as we need another 2+ people.
I have to say the venue is pretty good and i was pleasantly surprised that they had a nice bar area there.
I'll confirm when the booking is made as soon as i get some positive responses from those wishing to play

The others have already expressed an interest (The other 5 who turned up yesterday) If Biscuitman1978 is available on the 20th then i'll confirm the booking later this week (8pm Kick off), with additional people most welcome, indeed, encouraged to participate.
If we can get a fair number of people interesteed, then we have plenty of the summer left in which to get fit. Also there is the potential for STF to get a team together to compete in a league. At the moment I'm going to struggle to last more than 10 minutes in a match and would no doubt get my backside kicked by an 8 year old. These are options for later on.
However, the venue is good and they also have floodlights if it starts to get dark.
...And did i mention the bar which also has Sky Sports etc.?...

I'm free for Wednesday 20th. Hopefully, my right hamstring will also be up for it this time.
For those who didn't go and are worried about fitness/ability, be assured that the pitch is rubber crumb, which slows the pace down a bit and means the ball sits up nicely. Even I managed to score a few goals on it, which is saying something.
